Yes. The weekly tuition rate decreases as the duration increases. From 13 weeks onward — and again from 20 weeks — the weekly cost becomes significantly lower. Long-term programs offer a more efficient cost per week.

Class sizes depend on the school. At CEL Vancouver, classes average 7 students (maximum 12), allowing for personalized attention.
Three things set us apart. First, class size — we cap classes at 12 students with an average of 7, while most language schools in Vancouver run 15–17 per class, which limits speaking time and individual feedback. Second, location — our boutique campus near Coal Harbour puts you within walking distance of the waterfront, Stanley Park and downtown, rather than in a large institutional setting. Third, experience — CEL is part of a language education group with over 45 years of welcoming international students, so our teaching methods, student support and accreditations reflect long-standing expertise rather than a recent setup.
Class sizes are intentionally small to ensure personal attention and faster progress. On average:
CEL Vancouver is fully accredited by Languages Canada, approved by PTIRU (Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit), and certified under EQA (Education Quality Assurance).
Together, these designations confirm CEL Vancouver’s compliance with all provincial and federal quality standards in British Columbia.
Study duration depends on your goals, starting level and desired outcome. Some students choose 4–12 weeks for focused improvement, while others stay 24 weeks or longer to reach advanced fluency or prepare for exams. Explore recommended study durations in Vancouver to decide what fits best.

Stories and advice from our students, written to give you a real feel for studying with CEL.
Students who choose to learn English in Canada with the College of English Language (CEL) study at our Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia campus near Coal Harbour. We host more than 1,000 international students every year, drawn from dozens of nationalities. You will learn English in small groups that average seven students per class, led by certified instructors. Our nine distinct courses cover every level on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) scale, ranging from absolute beginner (A1) through advanced (C1). New intakes start every Monday across all 12 months of the year, making it easy to schedule your arrival. Canada offers a notably welcoming environment for international students pursuing language proficiency. The combination of an internationally neutral accent and strong public infrastructure provides an excellent setting to learn English. Most students who arrive at our Vancouver campus reach a working B2 level in 12 weeks of full-time study, provided they commit to class hours and daily practice.
Choosing a destination means weighing climate, culture, and cost. Canadian English is one of the most internationally neutral accents in North America, which perfectly suits students whose target audience is global rather than region-specific. The compact downtown layout ensures students typically live within 30 minutes of school in neighborhoods like Yaletown, the West End, Mount Pleasant, or Kitsilano. You can navigate the area easily using public transit. We encourage students to immerse themselves in local activities to practice their new skills.
To learn English in Canada with CEL is to study at our Downtown Vancouver campus near Coal Harbour, the only Canadian location in our school network. We run an average of 7 students per class with certified instructors and host more than 1,000 international students every year, drawn from dozens of nationalities. Our 9 courses cover every level on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) scale, from absolute beginner (A1) through advanced (C1), with new groups starting every Monday across all 12 months of the year. Canada offers a notably welcoming environment for international students, and Vancouver's mild rainforest climate keeps the school open year-round.
Canadian English is one of the most internationally neutral accents in North America, which suits students whose target audience is global rather than American-specific. Vancouver sits in a temperate rainforest climate, with mild rainy winters between 3 and 8°C and warm dry summers between 18 and 24°C, conditions that keep CEL's full course schedule running across all 12 months. The compact downtown means students typically live within 30 minutes of school in neighborhoods like Yaletown, the West End, Mount Pleasant, or Kitsilano, all served by strong public transit. Canada has 48 national parks, and Vancouver itself sits within driving distance of Whistler, Vancouver Island, and the rainforests and islands of the Pacific Coast.
Most international students enter Canada on either a visitor visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) for Visa Waiver countries (UK, Germany, Japan, and most of Europe), or on a study permit, depending on course length. Canada is one of the few major destinations that allows study of 6 months or less on a visitor record without a separate study permit, which makes short-term English study unusually easy here. For longer programs, or programs that may convert to work eligibility, a study permit is required and the school must be a Designated Learning Institution (DLI); CEL Vancouver is DLI-listed. The CEL admissions team helps with the Letter of Acceptance (the document Canadian study permit applications require), eTA application logistics, and visa application timing. A Canadian study permit application typically takes between 4 and 12 weeks depending on country of origin and visa office workload.
Most students at our Vancouver campus start with General English, a level-tested program that moves learners from A1 through C1 with new groups every Monday. Students preparing for university entrance commonly add our Cambridge Preparation for the B2 First or C1 Advanced certificates, which are recognized at universities across Canada (including the University of British Columbia and McGill) and at dozens of European institutions. For students bridging to college coursework, our Academic Skills elective develops the writing, citation, and seminar-discussion abilities universities expect. The full course catalog lists every program available at the Vancouver campus, with admissions available to help match starting level, timeline, and goals.
Many CEL Vancouver students extend their stay by transitioning into the Canadian study and work pathway. The Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP), run by the federal government, allows international graduates of recognized Canadian college and university programs to work in Canada for up to 3 years after their studies, with no employer sponsorship requirement and a documented route to permanent residency through Express Entry. CEL graduates often move from English study into degree programs at colleges and universities in British Columbia, then qualify for PGWP eligibility upon graduation. For shorter stays, we arrange comfortable student accommodation, including Canadian homestays with local families, shared apartments near downtown, and dedicated student residences. Our admissions team can match course length, level, visa pathway, and accommodation to your goals and country of origin.
